Robert Henry Brom

Robert Henry Brom (born September 18, 1938 in Arcadia , Wisconsin ) is an American clergyman and bishop emeritus of San Diego .

Life

Robert Henry Brom was ordained a priest for the diocese of Winona on December 18, 1963 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Duluth on March 25, 1983 . The Archbishop of Saint Paul and Minneapolis , John Robert Roach , ordained him bishop on May 23 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were Loras Joseph Watters , Bishop of Winona , and Paul Francis Anderson , auxiliary bishop in Sioux Falls .

On April 22, 1989, he was named coadjutor bishop of San Diego . After Leo Thomas Maher's retirement , he succeeded him on July 10, 1990 as Bishop of San Diego.

On September 18, 2013, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.

His motto is Ego Sum Christi (“I belong to Christ”) and comes from the 1st letter of the Apostle Paul to the Corinthians ( 1 Cor 1:12  EU ).
