Robert Hartinger (born August 10, 1875 in Baden , † March 5, 1939 in Vienna ) was an Austrian architect .

Life

Robert Hartinger was the grandson of the painter Anton Hartinger . He attended secondary school in Vienna and studied architecture at the Technical University from 1894 to 1899 . Then he entered the service of the Imperial and Royal State Railway Directorate, where he made it to the board of the building construction department. In those years he was responsible for all types of buildings, operating facilities, but also residential buildings for railway employees. In 1924 he left the civil service at the railway at his own request and worked with Silvio Mohr as a freelance architect until 1934. He then worked in an office community with his sons Robert and Heinz until his death at the age of 64.

meaning

Robert Hartinger initially worked very versatile at the Austrian Federal Railways, but he did not make a name for the buildings there. During his working group with Silvio Mohr in the inter-war period, he mainly dealt with settlement buildings, as preferred by the Christian Socialists. However, his special share in the working group can no longer be proven. In general, the two architects built in accordance with the surroundings and the regional style. In the 1930s her style changed according to the times and became more matter-of-fact and functional.
