Robert Janschitz

Robert Janschitz (born October 6, 1921 in Wolfsberg ; † August 5, 2002 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ).

Life

Robert Janschitz was born as the son of the headmaster Robert Janschitz and his wife Mathilde in Wolfsberg, Carinthia . After attending elementary school and grammar school in Wolfsberg, he passed his Matura in 1940 . Then he attended the war school in Potsdam until 1941 . Shortly before the end of the Second World War , the Wehrmacht soldier Janschitz was taken prisoner by the Soviets , from which he was allowed to return home in 1946.

On March 1, 1948, Janschitz was elected District Secretary of the SPÖ for the Wolfsberg district. Five years later, on March 18, 1953, Janschitz entered the National Council as a member of his party , but was only to be a member for three years, until June 8, 1956. 1956 Janschitz found a job with the armed forces . In 1957 he was promoted to first lieutenant and transferred to the field hunter battalion in the Rainer barracks in Elsbethen in Salzburg.

Janschitz was also politically active in Salzburg. In May 1964 he was elected chairman of the SPÖ in the Salzburg-Umgebung district. A year later, on March 24, 1965, Janschitz entered the Salzburg state parliament as a member of the SP . Janschitz was a member of the state parliament for 17 years, until 1982, and also served as club chairman (parliamentary group leader) of his party from 1979 to 1982. He resigned from the state parliament on February 17, 1982 and retired into private life.

Robert Janschitz died in August 2002 at the age of 80.
