Robert Ultzmann
Robert Ultzmann (born March 30, 1842 in Kaschau ; † June 10, 1889 in Vienna ) was an Austrian urologist and specialist in the field of urethral diseases.
Life
His father was a businessman, he attended grammar school in Kaschau, in 1861 he went to Vienna and was a full professor at the University of Vienna . From 1872 he worked at the Vienna General Polyclinic and also treated the Foreign Minister Count Gyula Andrássy . Ultzmann died in an accident in Simmering ; his grave with a bust is located at the Matzleinsdorf Evangelical Cemetery in Favoriten. He had a son, Richard Ultzmann (urologist) and a grandson Harald Ultzmann (urologist).
His bust of K. Seliger can be seen in the arcade courtyard of the University of Vienna. In 1888 Ultzmann was elected a member of the Leopoldina .
In 1954, Ultzmanngasse in Vienna- Donaustadt (22nd district) was named after him.
Services
Ultzmann is one of the pioneers of modern urology , concerned himself with urinary chemistry and the physiology and pathology of the system of the urinary and urinary pathways. He worked out an exact methodology and expanded his subject area to include numerous instruments that are still in use today.
