Anton Ritter von Frisch (as Anton Frisch * February 16, 1849 in Vienna ; † May 24, 1917 ibid) was an Austrian urologist .

Life

Frisch was a son of the General Staff Doctor and Chief of the Military Medical Officer Corps of the Austro-Hungarian Army , Anton Ritter von Frisch (1811–1886), who was ennobled in 1877 . Frisch junior became after studying at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, after a time as a demonstrator with Josef Hyrtl and an assistant time with Theodor Billroth , professor of anatomy at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna .

In 1874 he became a university professor in Vienna and in 1889 primary in the urological department of the polyclinic .

In 1882, Frisch discovered the rhinoscleroma bacillus and the identity of the rag disease with anthrax. He founded urology as an independent subject at the Medical Faculty Vienna.

He was buried at the Dornbacher Friedhof .

Anton von Frisch was married to Marie von Frisch , daughter of Franz Serafin Exner and sister of Adolf Exner , Karl Exner , Sigmund Exner and Franz-Serafin Exner . They had four sons, including the lawyer Hans von Frisch , the librarian Ernst von Frisch and the zoologist Karl von Frisch .
