history
Roccatederighi was first mentioned on August 29, 1110 as Rocca Nossina (also Rocca Norsina ). At the beginning of the 13th century the place was named as Rocca filiorum Guaschi . For a long time it was subordinate to the Counts Tederighi (also Tederigi ), allies of the Aldobrandeschi , and had its heyday in the 13th century when the name was changed to Roccatederighi in 1239. From 1323 the place finally belonged to Siena. From 1368 to 1404 the Salimbeni family from Siena ruled the place, after their fall the councilors of Siena ruled again. The first statutes of the place were created two years later and were reformed in 1452. In the conflict between Siena and Florence, the place was almost completely destroyed in 1553 and fell to Florence, which Siena could not take until 1555. In 1618 Cosimo II. De 'Medici gave the place as a fief to the Malaspina di Mulazzo .
