Sergio Rodríguez García , better known as Rodri (born August 17, 1984 in Mataró ), is a Spanish football player who is currently without a club.

Career

Born and raised in Mataró, Catalonia , Rodri began his football career at the FC Barcelona academy . From 2004 to 2006 he was part of the professional team, but only came to two short appearances. He made his debut on December 11, 2004 against Albacete Balompié . Most of the time, however, he played for the 2nd and 3rd team of Barça .

In the summer of 2006 Rodri moved to Deportivo La Coruña , for which he also only appeared twice. In January 2007, he was loaned to the second division UD Almería , before running up for the entire 2007/08 season for Polideportivo Ejido .

This was followed by further loan positions at Marítimo Funchal in the first Portuguese division and at the second division club UD Salamanca . In July 2009, Rodri was released from Deportivo, after which he signed a contract with Hércules Alicante . The 2007/08 season was the most successful of his professional career, with four goals in 38 games and promotion to the Primera División .

After losing his regular place in the following season, Rodi moved to Spartak Moscow in March 2011 for 400,000 euros , where he signed a one-year contract.

After the end of his contract, he moved back to Spain on August 31, 2012 for the first division club Rayo Vallecano . In January 2014, the Belgian second division team KAS Eupen secured its services. He played here until 2016 and then moved back to his home country for third division club UE Llagostera . From 2017 to 2019 he played for the CE l'Hospitalet in the fourth-class Tercera División . Since then he has been without a club.
