history

The place was created in a left side valley of the Neisse am Eckersbach. The settlements of Eckersdorf and Holundergrund , which are located along the brook, were first mentioned in 1518 as the property of the bailiff of Upper Lusatia Wilhelm von Ilburg and part of the Lämberg rule . At that time, silver and lead mining took place in the forests at Eckersbach, which was discontinued before 1750. In 1528 Wilhelm von Ilburg granted mountain freedom for Eldergrund and Eckersdorf . In 1581 Heinrich von der Berka and Duba bought the Lämberg estate. The hammer mill in Eckersbach was also mentioned. Together with Kriesdorf , Eckersbach was separated from Dohna von Lämberg under Nikolaus II and attached to the Grafenstein rule . The valley was named Christophsgrund after his son Christoph von Dohna , although a distinction was made between Eckersbach and Elundergrund until the 20th century.

In 1826, the Reichenberg entrepreneurs Siegmund and Neuhäuser built a textile factory below Eckersbach on the Neisse near Hammerstein. After the abolition of patrimonial Eckersbach / Ekerspach formed a district of the city of Kratzau in the Reichenberg district. The Kaiserstraße from Kratzau to Oschitz was built between 1852 and 1858. In the years from 1856 to 1859 the railway from Reichenberg to Zittau was built and a viaduct was built at the Hammerstein ruins. In 1900 the section of the North Bohemian Transversal Railway was completed, with which Christofsgrund was connected to the railway network. Several tunnels and viaducts were built in the Eckersbach valley. From 1920 the Czech name of the village was changed to Rokytnice and it was incorporated into Engelsberg / Andělská Hora. As a result of the Munich Agreement , Eckersbach was added to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Reichenberg district until 1945 . After the end of the war, the Germans were expelled . During this time the place lost the status of a district and was added to Kryštofovo Údolí. Until 1960 Rokytnice belonged to the Okres Liberec-okolí and then to the Okres Liberec. From 1980 to 1990 the village was incorporated into Chrastava .
