Rolf Gerner
Rolf Gerner (born March 2, 1941 in Kassel ) is a German painter , graphic artist and draftsman .
education
Gerner was a student of Johannes Reinhold from 1956 to 1958 . From 1958 to 1961 he trained as a typesetter at Bärenreiter-Verlag in Kassel. Gerner studied from 1961 to 1963 at the Werk-Kunstschule in Kassel. From 1964 to 1970 he worked as a commercial artist. In 1965 he made his debut with free drawings. From 1971 to 2001 he created commercial graphics in the social field, made public relations and dealt intensively with fine art. Gerner has been a freelance worker since 2001.
Works
Gerner created landscapes, such as motifs from Dalmatia , still lifes and figurines. His works often have time-critical and ironic features. Linear and outline drawings and color etchings have z. Sometimes collage-like effect in the wake of realistic trends from the 1960s to the 1970s, with clear references to magical realism and surrealism , as in the work Flower Bomber from 1972. But he also painted in the style of Pop Art . In the early oil paintings, still lifes and landscapes, influences of Dutch painting and New Objectivity are emphasized, as in the evening still life of 1969. In the 1980s he turned to oil painting in greater depth. He then created tree, rock and river motifs from Fulda , Werra and Weser , which express his interest in structures and morphology .
Gerner lives in Kassel.
