Rolfs is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Norrbotten County , in the historical province (landskap) Norrbotten .

location

Rolfs belongs to the municipality of Kalix and within this, since January 1, 2016, to the district of Nederkalix, named after the parish (socken), which has had this name since 1644. With around 1000 inhabitants (2015), the place is the third largest town in the municipality. It is located a good 50 km as the crow flies northeast of the provincial capital Luleå on the right bank of the Kalixälven river, directly opposite Kalix .

The district of Grytnäs and Johannesberg belong to the Tatort in a south-easterly direction along the Kalixälven.

Europastraße 4 ( Europaväg 4 ), which crosses the Kalixälven there , also runs through Rolfs . There the secondary provincial roads BD 703 branch off towards Påläng - Sören and BD 705 to Nyborg - Storön .

history

The settlements in the area, also called Innanbäcken , on the right of the Kalixälven opposite Kalix, from which today's Rolfs emerged, were mentioned from the 16th century as smaller collections of farmhouses, from the 18th century with the still preserved mansions Grytnäs and Filipsborg. Around the turn of the 20th century, businesses such as the sawmill, which still exists today as Rolfs Såg , emerged . Today, Rolfs, with its larger industrial area, is the commercial and residential suburb of the Kalix community center.

Administratively, the place initially belonged to the parish of Nederkalix socken, from which the rural community of the same name (landskommun) emerged in 1862 . This was renamed rural community Kalix in 1967 and 1971 on the church today (kommun) reshuffled.
