Coordinates: 65 ° 51 '  N , 23 ° 9'  O Kalix is a municipality ( Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province Norrbotten and the historical province Norrbotten . Its main town is Kalix .

geography

The municipality extends about 50 kilometers along the coast of the Gulf of Bothnia and from the coast along the Kalixälven and Sangisälven rivers for about 50 kilometers inland.

Other larger localities ( Tatorter ) besides the main town are Båtskärsnäs , Bredviken , Gammelgården , Karlsborg , Morjärv , Nyborg , Påläng , Risögrund , Rolfs , Sangis and Töre . The European roads 4 ( Europaväg 4 ) and 10 run through the municipality .

economy

Wood processing is the traditional industry of the municipality. The provincial parliament is also located in the main town.
