Coordinates: 65 ° 50 ' N , 21 ° 41' E Boden is a municipality ( Swedish commun ) in the northern Swedish province of Norrbotten County and the historic province of Norrbotten . The main town of the municipality is Boden .
geography
The area of the municipality of Boden, which stretches about 100 kilometers along the Lule River, is a distinct hilly country with numerous lakes and wetlands. The municipality is also crossed by the Råneälven, which runs parallel to the Luleälven, approximately 30 kilometers northeast. Approx. 75% of the community area is covered by forest.
The Luleälven valley is an old cultural landscape with villages and hamlets from the 16th century. The main town is Boden in the south of the municipality, other localities (Swedish tatorter ) are Bodträskfors , Gunnarsbyn , Harads , Svartlå , Sävast , Unbyn and Vittjärv .
economy
Boden is a distinct service community . More than 80 percent of the workforce is employed in the tertiary sector and only 4.5 percent in productive industries. The largest employers (apart from the municipality) are the Swedish Defense Forces (with a number of associations), the Swedish Railways and the Provincial Parliament.
