Bredviken is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Norrbotten County , in the historical province (landskap) Norrbotten .
Bredviken belongs to the municipality of Kalix and within this, since January 1, 2016, to the district of Nederkalix, named after the parish (socken) that has had this name since 1644. It is located about 55 km as the crow northeast of the provincial capital Luleå and 4 km southeast of the town center of Kalix on the left bank of the river Kalixälven little above its confluence with the Bothnian the Baltic Sea .
Europastraße 4 ( Europaväg 4 ) and the new line of the Boden – Haparanda railway line (Nya Haparandabanan) opened in 2012 run north-east of the town . At Bredviken station , a connecting line branches off to Karlsborg and the local paper mill. The railway lines are used exclusively for freight traffic.
