Roman Meluzín (born June 17, 1972 in Blansko , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech ice hockey player who played for the Moskitos Essen in the German ice hockey league and Tappara Tampere in the SM-liiga from 1988 to 2008 .
Career
Roman Meluzín began his career as a hockey player at Zetor Brno , with whom he commuted between the 1st division and the 2nd division from 1988 to 1992 . During this period he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1990 in the fourth round as the 74th player of the Winnipeg Jets , for which he never played. Instead, the attacker ran from 1992 to 1997 for HC Zlín, initially in the top Czechoslovak league, and then in the Czech extra league . With Zlín, the right-handed shooter failed in the 1994/95 and 1998/99 playoff finals at Vsetínská hokejová . In the meantime he was in the 1997/98 season with their league rivals HC Slavia Prague under contract.
For the 1999/2000 season, Meluzín moved to other European countries for the first time, where he played for Tappara Tampere in the Finnish SM-liiga . The following season he started with the Mosquitos Essen in the German ice hockey league and finished it in his home country with HC Oceláři Třinec from the extra league . After the winger had finished the 2003/04 season at HC Slovan Bratislava from the Slovak extra league , he returned for three years to his ex-club from Brno, which had since been relegated to the second-rate first division . The two-time world champion ended his career following the 2007/08 season at the age of 35 with Hokej Šumperk 2003 , with whom he had been promoted to the first division the previous year.
