The Ron is the approximately 14.5 kilometers long main tributary of the Baldeggersee in the Swiss canton of Lucerne . It flows through part of the Seetal and drains an area of ​​around 28 square kilometers.

The Ron rises in a field on the municipal boundary of Beromünster and Hildisrieden at 710  m above sea level. M. It initially flows mainly in a south-easterly direction through Hildisrieden and past Rain . Shortly before Eschenbach, the river curves to the northwest. It passes the Hochdorf hamlets of Urswil and Ligschwil , where it absorbs the water from several streams. The Ron now touches the village center of Hochdorf in the west and flows a little later canalised and parallel to the Alte Ron in the southern part of the Baldeggersee.

Catchment area

The catchment area of ​​the Ron measures 28.33 km², of which 75.9% is agricultural area, 12.9% wooded area , 10.9% settlement area, 0.2% unproductive area and 0.1% water area.

The highest point of the catchment area is 777  m above sea level. M. at the edge of the large forest at Hof Balletsmatt in Römerswil , the average altitude is 570  m above sea level. M. and the mean annual precipitation is 1165.4 mm.
