Ronald Hofstätter

Ronald Hofstätter (born January 28, 1970 in Vienna , Austria ) is an Austrian game designer , historian and tourism expert. He is the author of books, board games and online games and has received a number of awards for his work as a game designer. He also creates innovative culture and tourism concepts.

Life

Ronald Hofstätter was born in Vienna as the only son of the Edith and Alexander Hofstätter family. He studied history , journalism and political science at the University of Vienna and graduated with distinction in 1996 with a diploma thesis "The Dark Side of the Screen - German Expressionist Silent Film until 1933". His second special topic is the "medieval castle".

Until 1993 he worked full-time as a daily newspaper journalist and learned the profession of photographer. In 1998 he was co-director of the archaeological ruins excavation in Hornstein / Burgenland. In 1999 he started his own business as a creative and founded “White Castle Games & Infotainment” and “Culture & Tourism Management”. In 2007 “TIME: TRAVELER” was added, the development of which was funded by the City of Vienna as an innovative tourism project.

Since 2010, father of two sons, Ronald Hofstätter lives and works in Klosterneuburg.

He is committed to children, organizes workshops and dance events, among other things. on the subject of aggression reduction and self-development. Hofstätter has been a licensed children's trainer of the ÖFB since 2019.

Games work area

In 2003 the international creative agency White Castle was founded, based in Vienna's MuseumsQuartier . He works with international authors and teaches them the craft of game-making. Over 20 young authors came to first publications through White Castle. Hofstätter u. a. Independent consultant to Hasbro and Ideenscout in Europe. Since 2009 also for the publishing house Pegasus. Hofstätter is also an honorary member of the Vienna Games Academy and was a member of the SAZ international authors' union until 2010 .

In 2003 he founded the White Castle game designer regulars table, which still takes place weekly to this day, from which dozens of internationally successful authors have emerged to this day.

In 2011 Hofstätter withdrew from the White Castle agency. Hofstätter has been a freelance author since then and lives in Vienna.
