Ronald Lovell Ross (born February 11, 1983 in Hobbs , New Mexico ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Ross first played as a professional in Italy and the Minor League CBA . Between 2007 and 2011 Ross played, interrupted by a season in Israel , in the German basketball league for three different first division clubs. After Ross last played for Jolly Šibenik in Croatia for 2½ years , he has been under contract for Apollon Patras in Greece since the beginning of 2014 .

Career

Ross, originally from the southeastern New Mexico, studied in the adjacent Lubbock (Texas) at the Texas Tech University , where he from 2001 for the high school team Red Raiders in the Big 12 Conference of NCAA played. At that time, the controversial and popular coach Bob Knight had taken over the Red Raiders , who had previously been fired from Indiana University after 29 years and several NCAA championships . Under Knight, the Raiders did not win any championships in the Big 12 at first, but in Ross' fourth and final NCAA season in 2005 they reached the third round of the Sweet Sixteen in the national NCAA finals , which the Raiders have never reached in the past got out. In the subsequent Entry Draft 2005 of the highest endowed US professional league NBA , Ross was not selected and could not recommend himself for a contract in the highest endowed professional league even through training camps, including the Golden State Warriors .

So Ross began his professional career in 2005 at Univer from Castelletto sopra Ticino in the Italian LegADue . After a season he returned to his home country and tried his hand at the Albuquerque Thunderbirds in the NBA Development League , but was not taken on the season squad. Then Ross played in other minor leagues for the Butte Daredevils in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and the Albany Patroons in the USBL .

He played his first season in the German basketball league with EnBW Ludwigsburg, with whom he was defeated by his future club Artland Dragons in the final of the Final Four tournament in the Cup. The following season he first played for two Israeli clubs, but then moved to the Dragons in Quakenbrück in Artland in February 2009 . For the 2010/2011 season, he received no new contract with the Dragons. At the beginning of December, Ross was finally presented as a new addition to Central German BC . After the descent of the MBC in the second division ProA , Ross received no new contract in 2011. After two and a half years with the Croatian club Jolly from Šibenik , the contract with this club was terminated at the end of 2013 and Ross switched to the Greek A1 Ethniki to Apollon from Patras .
