Ronnie Brewer (born March 20, 1985 in Portland , Oregon ) is a retired American basketball player who played primarily as a shooting guard for many years in the National Basketball Association .

Career

After three years at the University of Arkansas , Brewer switched to the professional camp in 2006. He was selected 14th in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz . Despite limited working time, Brewer impressed in his rookie season and scored 4.6 points in 56 games with a 52.8% hit rate in an average of 12 minutes per game. The following year, Brewer ousted CJ Miles from the grid and started all jazz games as shooting guard . He scored 12.0 points with a 55.8% hit rate, as well as 1.7 steals in 27.5 minutes per game. At the 2008 NBA Allstar Weekend , Brewer was called up as a sophomore in the 'rookie sophomore game'. The following seasons 2008-09 and 2009-10 Brewer was in all games for the jazz on the grid. At the side of Deron Williams , Brewer formed one of the youngest and most athletic backcourts in the league. His greatest success with jazz was reaching the 'Western Conference Finals' in 2007, where they lost to the San Antonio Spurs .

Due to stagnant performance and the fact that the jazz management wanted space under the salary cap , Brewer was transferred to the Memphis Grizzlies in 2010 in exchange for draft picks . However, Brewer only played 5 games for Memphis before injuring himself and being out for the rest of the season. In the summer of 2010, Brewer became a free agent , allowing him to join a team of his choice.

On July 16, Brewer signed a contract with the Chicago Bulls . In Chicago Brewer met his former teammates Carlos Boozer and Kyle Korver , who were also signed from Utah in the summer. With the Bulls Brewer came in 81 missions on 6.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 22 minutes per game. With Chicago Brewer reached the 'Eastern Conference Finals' in 2011

For the 2012/2013 season, Brewer left the Bulls and moved to the New York Knicks . There he received a contract for a year until the summer of 2013. On February 21, 2013 Brewer was traded by the New York Knicks to the Oklahoma City Thunder , which then received a second round pick .

On August 28, 2013, the Houston Rockets announced that they had signed Brewer. Brewer only stayed under contract until February 2014 when he was fired.

On April 7, 2014, Brewer returns to the Chicago Bulls. There he signed a contract for the remainder of the 2013/14 season .

Brewer was selected in the D-League Draft 2015 by the Santa Cruz Warriors and has since been under contract with them in the NBA Development League D-League.
