Ronny Rieken

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ronny Rieken (born February 12, 1968 in Oldenburg ) is a German serial sexual offender and multiple murderer . He is the second criminal who was convicted with a DNA mass test in Germany . He raped and killed 13-year-old Ulrike Everts and 11-year-old Christina Nytsch in the Cloppenburg area . At the end of 1998, Rieken was sentenced to life imprisonment for these acts .

Deeds

On June 11, 1996, Rieken kidnapped 13-year-old Ulrike Everts from Jeddeloh II when she was driving alone with her pony carriage on the Dortmund Moorweg in Harbern, Wardenburg municipality . He abused Ulrike on a canal near Kampe, near an animal meal factory, in the exact same place where he had molested an eleven-year-old girl 5 months earlier . After the fact, he gave her the pieces of clothing one by one to wear, then strangled her with a cloth diaper and took the body to Ipweger Moor, 40 kilometers away .

On March 16, 1998, shortly after 5 p.m., Rieken saw 11-year-old Christina Nytsch from Strücklingen in the Cloppenburg district , who was a few hundred meters from her parents' house, and dragged her from her bike into the trunk and drove to the canal Kampe, where he had already raped and strangled Ulrike. Rieken later told the court that he hit Christina because she didn't want to undress. When a car drove by, Christina had to go back into the trunk and they drove into another, dark piece of forest near Lorup . Christina had to undress and kneel down there and was strangled from behind with a cable . He then stabbed the corpse several times with a knife. Six days after her disappearance, hunters found Christina's body, which was barely covered with branches, 20 kilometers from her parents' home. Her body was covered with bruises . She was raped a total of six times. It was preceded by the largest hunt for criminals in German criminal history to date, in which 1500 square kilometers were searched with the help of thousands of volunteers. The Bundeswehr had also supported the search, among other things with thermal imaging cameras from the air. Rieken left traces of semen on Christina's body. They coincided with the evidence that investigators had found in early 1996 after another abuse of a nine-year-old. Rieken let this victim go after the crime. The DNA mass test initiated at Easter 1998 finally convicted Rieken and led to his arrest . Rieken had gone to the saliva test because his suspicious brother-in-law had suggested that he go along. Rieken was thus only the second murderer in Germany to face a saliva sample and to be convicted. This contributed significantly to the public and legal acceptance of this method. In April 1998, when the search for Rieken was still in full swing, the DNA analysis file , a joint application of the State Criminal Police Offices and the Federal Criminal Police Office, went into operation.

Trial and detention

In the trial against Rieken before the jury , it was said that he had been mistreated by his father in his childhood. The presiding judge, who had already convicted Rieken in 1989 for raping his sister, expressed doubts about the sexual abuse he described by his father. Rieken had committed his first rape at the age of 19 on a neighbor girl. He was 21 years old when his sister, who was two years younger than him, was raped. Rieken had strangled her with a belt until she passed out, only to be able to rape her twice without resistance.

During his stay in prison for the crime against his sister, he was not treated, but only treated for an alcoholic illness . His original prison sentence of ten years had been reduced to five and a half years in the revision. Due to good leadership, Rieken was released after just three years. A few weeks later, he molested his future brother-in-law's daughter.

The appeal lodged by Rieken against his latest ruling revision was in 1999 by the Federal Court of Justice rejected. The judgment thus became final .

The Regional Court of Oldenburg also determined that the guilt was particularly serious , resulting in a minimum detention period of well over 15 years. He is serving his sentence in the Celle correctional facility . During a detention check in March 2012 it was found that Rieken had not come to terms with his crimes and will therefore not be released until 2021 at the earliest. This decision was confirmed by the Higher Regional Court of Celle on May 9, 2012 and is therefore legally binding.

Others

Rieken is a father of three and a former inland boatman. During his first prison sentence, he began an apprenticeship as a machine fitter, which he completed shortly after his early release.
