The Rotax 618 is a water-cooled two - cylinder two - stroke in - line engine . It was built by the Austrian company BRP-Rotax for use in ultralight aircraft .

construction

The Rotax 618 has a water-cooled cylinder head and water-cooled cylinders with rotary valves . One or two external coolers are used for cooling. The engine is lubricated by an oil / fuel mixture in the ratio of 50: 1 or by oil injection. It has a double capacitor ignition from Ducati and two carburettors . He uses a pneumatic diaphragm fuel pump to supply fuel .

The propeller is driven by a Rotax type C or E reduction gear . The standard version includes a silenced exhaust and a silenced air filter . A rear silencer can optionally be installed to further reduce engine noise. The engine also has an electric starter and a built-in 12V alternator that provides 200 watts.

The engine is no longer manufactured.
