The Rotax 535 is an aircraft engine from the Austrian manufacturer BRP-Rotax . It was developed for use in motor gliders . The first application for a type approval according to JAR 22 was made on June 29, 1982 and the engine was approved on April 27, 1983. The engine is no longer built and also no longer offered by Rotax.

The Rotax 535 is a water-cooled two - cylinder two - stroke gasoline in-line engine with a displacement of 521.2 cm³ and a belt drive with a reduction of 3: 1. It has a double magnetic high voltage capacitor ignition from Bosch or Ducati and one or two carburetors . The engine develops an output of 60 HP (44 kW) at 7200 revolutions per minute and burns gasoline with 96 octane or AvGas 100LL. The lubrication is carried out by the oil / fuel mixture in the ratio 50: 1.
