Rotraud A. Perner (born August 18, 1944 in Orth an der Donau ) is an Austrian lawyer , psychotherapist / psychoanalyst, Protestant theologian and university pastor on a voluntary basis.

Life

Rotraud A. Perner completed a law degree at the University of Vienna from 1962 , which she completed in 1966 with a Magisterium and in 1967 with a doctorate. After completing her studies, she worked as an economics officer at the Oesterreichische Nationalbank . 1978–1986 Perner was a manager (with budget and personnel responsibility) in the Association of Youth Centers of the City of Vienna (invention and implementation of Club Bassenas and project management for partnership and family work) and completed a total of five psychotherapy training courses (including 1984 diploma for psychoanalytic social therapy, 1987 certificate in systemic sex therapy) and in 1989 earned the diploma in adult education at the Pedagogical Academy Vienna. In 1975 she founded a family counseling center in Favoriten (Vienna), two sex counseling centers in Vienna and in 1990, together with Elfriede Abt, the association “Die Möwe - Association for physically, mentally and sexually abused children”.

Perner was a university professor at the Danube University Krems (only university professor for prevention) and a court expert, works as a mediator (honorary member of the Austrian Professional Association of Mediators ), as well as at several Austrian universities. She founded and heads the Institute for Stress Prevention & Salutogenesis (ISS) and the Academy for Salutogenesis & Mesociation (ASM) in Matzen , Lower Austria. From 1996 to 2002 she was first chairperson, until 2004 third chairperson and now honorary member of the Austrian Society for Sexual Research (ÖGS). She was editor of their magazine SEXUS as well as co-editor of the monthly magazine Forum for Feminist Gaits, regular columnist for AZ, Wiener Zeitung, Winside, Konstruktiv and others and published over 50 specialist books on the topics of mental health, violence prevention, power and sexuality. Furthermore, she works as a trainer, supervisor and seminar leader as well as coach and consultant for managers, religious dignitaries and politicians.

After completing her studies in Protestant theology (2010-2015), which she began for research motives, and the vicariate started after the bachelor's degree at the suggestion of Superintendent Paul Weiland , Perner was ordained by Bishop Michael Bünker as an honorary pastor on April 24, 2016 entrusted the official mandate to build up the previously missing Protestant university pastoral care at the Lower Austrian universities. In the election campaign for the state elections in Lower Austria in 2013 , Perner appeared as a supporter of Erwin Pröll , although she ran as a member of the SPÖ as a district councilor and candidate for the Vienna state parliament in the 1970s and 1980s .

On August 19, 2017, she resigned from the SPÖ in the National Council election campaign in 2017 because of “statements made by federal manager Georg Niedermühlbichler that were misogynistic in her opinion ” . She also accused him and Chancellor Christian Kern - the Silberstein affair was intensifying at this point - of engaging in dirty campaigning against their political competitor.

Perner was married to the journalist Reinhold Perner from 1968 until his death in 2009 and has two grown sons (* 1972 and * 1974).
