Rottau is a former municipality in Upper Bavaria and has been part of the Grassau market in the Traunstein district since 1972 . The church village is about three kilometers northeast of the town center of Grassau.

Rottau is located in the region of southeast Upper Bavaria in the Chiemgau in the Achental approx. Three kilometers south of the Chiemsee .

history

Rottau was mentioned in a document as early as 1175. The Bavarian town since at least 1259 belonged to the Burghausen Rent Office and the Marquartstein Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , the municipality of Rottau was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

On January 1, 1972, Rottau was incorporated into Grassau as part of the regional reform in Bavaria , the districts of Felden and Neumühle came to Bernau am Chiemsee .
