Rottum is the smallest district of the municipality Steinhausen an der Rottum in the district of Biberach in Upper Swabia .

Rottum is located between Ochsenhausen and Bad Wurzach on the L 265. The Bellamonter Rottum flows through Rottum, which merges four kilometers downstream in Ochsenhausen with the Steinhauser Rottum to form the Rottum .

Rottum Castle was built between 1100 and 1200 . Parts of the village changed hands several times with the Rot an der Rot and Ochsenhausen monastery . The Church of St. Mauritius was built in 1453. In the tower hangs the second oldest bell of the district of Biberach from 1471, inside the church among other things next to a valuable crucifix a Madonna by Martin Zürn around 1630. In 1806 the place was incorporated into the Kingdom of Württemberg .

The church community belongs to the pastoral care unit St. Benedikt in the diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart .

Jakob Fischer

Nothing has survived from Rottum Castle. A Madonna from 1630, attributed to Martin Zürn , belongs to the interior of the parish church of St. Mauritius . The original tree of the Jakob Fischer apple variety planted in 1903 by Jakob Fischer was located in the district at Niklas' s residential area .
