history
In 1851 a small community was started on the banks of Brushy Creek. Near the parish was a large round rock called Round Rock , part of which was in the middle of the lake. This rock marked a comfortable, low water crossing for carts, horses, and cattle.
The first postmaster named this ward Brushy Creek. In 1854 the small settlement was renamed Round Rock in honor of the now famous rock.
