The Rowa Islands , also known as Reef Islands , are an atoll in the Banks Islands in the province of Torba , the northernmost province of Vanuatu , about eight kilometers northeast of the island of Vanua Lava .

The coral reef that includes the islands is around 30 km² including the lagoon . The land area of the five ( Motu ) (atoll islands) is only around ten hectares . The islets, all of which are in the northeast of the atoll, barely rise more than two meters above sea level . The five islands are:

  • Apply
  • Enwut / Enwot
  • Wotansa
  • Rowa
  • Lavap

Other sources give island names such as Anouit , Moïe , Lomeur , Sanna and Wosou .

The islands have a total area of 10 hectares . Enwut is the largest island. Only the main island was inhabited earlier. In 1944, 20 residents were counted. After a severe cyclone , they relocated to the island of Uréparapara , 18 km northwest , where they already had land use rights .
