Rudi Kost (* 1949 in Stuttgart ) is a German journalist , editor , publisher , author of detective novels and critic.

Life

Rudi Kost graduated from the Johannes-Kepler-Gymnasium in Bad Cannstatt in 1968 and then began a traineeship at the Cannstatter Zeitung , for which he had worked as a freelancer for several years. In 1969 he switched to the central editorial office of the Eßlinger Zeitung as part of a traineeship , where he then worked as an editor and deputy head of politics. From 1975 to 1978 he studied at what was then the Eßlingen University of Education , was then head of the features section at the Eßlinger Zeitung and made a name for himself as a theater , film and literary critic . Together with Peter Kreglinger , he was the presenter of the program Thema Film at what was then Süddeutscher Rundfunk from 1978–1981 .

He has been a freelance journalist, author and editor since 1985. He wrote articles for school radio and (specializing in detective novels) features , reviews , epilogues and biographies .

He worked u. a. for the then Süddeutscher Rundfunk , Schweizer Rundfunk , Saarländischer Rundfunk , Playboy , Capital , Rheinischer Merkur , dpa , Darmstädter Echo , Passauer Neue Presse , FAZ , Deutsche Bühne , Eßlinger Zeitung , Stuttgarter Zeitung .

Rudi Kost is the author of around 50 PC application guides and was co-editor and co-author of the computer book series So geht's! - Solutions for users with 61 titles. As co-founder and head of Koval Verlag , he publishes language and travel guides (including the moon travel guide Travel to the Moon by Tiki Coast Maker ). He himself wrote travel guides a . a. via Las Vegas , New York City and Schwäbisch Hall .

In addition to several short crime stories, he has been writing and publishing a crime series about the Schwäbisch Hall insurance agent and hobby detective Dillinger since 2007, which, in addition to Schwäbisch Hall , preferably takes place in the villages and small towns of Hohenlohe .

The first novel in the series, Die Nadel im Heustaufen (2007), leads to Hohenberg near Wolpertshausen , where Dillinger finds a farmer dead in his barn. Boiling Hot (2009) is dedicated to the cake and fountain festival of the Hall salt boilers, which takes place every year at Whitsun . Drei Vorhang für Grock (2015) plays at the Stuttgart State Theater and is about a controversial star director who is found dead on the stage.

When Grandma Öchsle rings twice (2013) is an entertainment novel, strongly influenced by the Swabian dialect, about a 69-year-old who does not want to be labeled an old woman and thus causes turbulence in her environment. The main character Emma Öchsle has a guest appearance in Dillinger .

Kost lives near Schwäbisch Hall, is married and has four grown children.
