Rudolf Avenhaus

Rudolf Avenhaus (born August 6, 1938 in Zwickau ) is a German physicist and statistician . From 1993 to 1994 he was acting president of the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich .

Life

Avenhaus studied mathematics and physics at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich (diploma in 1964). In 1967 he was in theoretical physics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the Technical University of Karlsruhe with a thesis on the influence of the spin paramagnetism of electrons superconductors short free path length for Dr. rer. nat. PhD. In 1975 he completed his habilitation in statistics at the University of Mannheim . Avenhaus worked as a research assistant in Karlsruhe and Geneva as well as at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Laxenburg. In 1976 he became head of department at the Karlsruhe Nuclear Research Center.

From 1980 he was Professor of Statistics and Operations Research at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich . His main research interests were multivariate procedures , test theory and game theory . In 1993/94 he was acting president of the Bundeswehr University. He has now retired. His academic students include a. Bernhard von Stengel .

From 1976 to 1983 he was a member of the German Society for Peace and Conflict Research .
