Hans Georg Loessl

Hans Georg Lößl (born October 20, 1940 in Kirchheimbolanden ) is a German Evangelical Lutheran theologian . From 1994 to 2005 he was President of the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich .

Life

Lößl was born the son of a theologian. He followed his father and studied Protestant theology , history and psychology at the universities in Heidelberg , Göttingen and Mainz . After his doctorate with a thesis on The First Catechism of the Palatinate Union Church 1821-1853 , he first worked as a youth pastor in the Palatinate. From 1980 he served as dean of the church district Speyer but then left his regional church in 1990, which he saw as not willing enough to reform.

As early as the early 1980s, Lößl shifted the focus of his professional activity to Munich . In 1981 he was appointed Managing Director of the Munich Adult Education Center. In this position, he converted the non-profit association into a non-profit GmbH . As a representative of adult education organizations , he was a member of the Bavarian Broadcasting Council from 1984 to 1994 and again from 2001 to 2010 as a representative of Bavarian universities and colleges. In 1994 he gave up his post in the management of the adult education center, but remained there on the supervisory board and chairman of the board of trustees.

He moved to the University of the Bundeswehr in Munich in Neubiberg, where he succeeded Rudolf Avenhaus in the office of President on April 1, 1994 . He retired in 2005.

From 1973 to 1990 he was teaching at the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences and the University of Heidelberg . From 1984 to 2001 he was the first chairman of the Bavarian Adult Education Association. Lößl is chairman of the university council of the Landshut University of Applied Sciences and was also chairman of the university council of the Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg from 2007 to 2011 .

  • 2007: Lößl was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class , for his services as a reformer at the Adult Education Center in Munich and the successful implementation of interdisciplinary and international training at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich during his tenure as President .
