Rudolf Ernst von Bila

Rudolf Ernst von Bila (born December 30, 1743 - † February 1, 1808 in Neustadt an der Aisch ) was a Prussian major general and chief of the 11th Hussar Regiment .

Life

origin

He came from the Thuringian noble family von Bila . His parents were the captain and chamberlain Alexander Reinhard Ernst von Bila and his wife Veronika Elisabeth, née von Rüxleben . The Prussian major general Karl Anton von Bila was his brother.

Military career

Bila came in 1759 as a Junker in the Hussar Regiment "Zieten" of the Prussian Army . During the Seven Years' War he fought in the battle of Torgau and in the siege of Schweidnitz . Bila became a cornet on April 13, 1761 and second lieutenant on January 4, 1764 after the war . As such, he initially fought in the War of the Bavarian Succession and became Premier Lieutenant on December 11, 1778 . On May 1, 1783 he was promoted to staff assistant master. He was also with the troops sent to Holland in 1787 to fight the unrest . For the capture of Nieuport and Schoonhoven he received the order Pour le Mérite on September 18, 1787 .

On December 8, 1788, Bila became major and squadron chief in Hussar Regiment No. 8 . Then on March 17, 1792 he was transferred to the newly established Hussar Regiment No. 11 as commander. On September 1, 1795, he received an allowance of 200 thalers. On May 31, 1798 he became lieutenant colonel and on May 31, 1799 colonel . During his time in Ansbach, he repeatedly had to assert himself against Austrian and French troops who had occupied towns in neutral Prussian areas. On September 13, 1803, Bila received the order to exchange the yellow Dolmans of his regiment for green ones. In 1805 he received praise from the king for the good condition of his troops after a successful review . On April 15, 1806 he was then chief of the hussar regiment "Sass" and promoted to major general on May 30, 1806 on May 20, 1806 with a patent . Bila took part with the regiment in the Fourth Coalition War, but this ended for him on October 31, 1806 with the surrender at Anklam.

He died on February 21, 1808 in Neustadt an der Aisch in Franconia.

family

Bila was married twice. He married Wilhelmine Luise Gebel (* 1753; † February 21, 1800) in Stolp in Pomerania in 1790. The couple remained without children. After the death of his first wife, he married Christiane Sophia Amthor in Müncheberg in 1806 (* July 1, 1773, † December 17, 1859). The couple had two daughters:
