Rudolf Jürgens (mathematician)

Rudolf Juergens (born May 3, 1900 in Uetersen , Holstein ; † November 7, 1937 in Lauenburg in Pomerania ) was a German mathematician , physicist and professor of methods of arithmetic and natural science teaching.

Life

Jürgens was born as the son of the cooper Friedrich Jürgens and his wife Anne (née Nagel) in Großer Sand 48 in Uetersen. From 1906 to 1915 he attended the municipal secondary and Cäcili school . After a brief activity in his parents' shop, Jürgens attended the Royal Prussian Seminar in Uetersen from 1915 to 1920 and passed the first teacher examination in September 1920. It was followed from 1920 to 1926 some appointments in various Hamburg-based private schools and Jürgens made the way a study of the experimental physics , the applied and theoretical physics and mathematics at the University of Hamburg . With an experimental physics dissertation in the field of optics ( "On the scattering of light in photographic negatives and its influence on the measurement of blackening" ) he received his doctorate in natural sciences in 1927 . Jürgens worked as a teacher at the boys 'and girls' middle school in Bargteheide until 1934 and joined the NSDAP on May 1, 1933 . On April 1, 1934 he was appointed acting lecturer for mathematics and physics at the college for teacher training in Lauenburg in Pomerania . By decree of April 5, 1935, Jürgens was appointed professor for methodology of arithmetic and science teaching and was also deputy university director and member of the "Scientific Working Group " in the Federation of German East . After a long illness, Jürgens died at the age of 37 in Lauenburg.
