Rudolf Lange (journalist)

Rudolf Lange (born April 2, 1914 in Osnabrück , † April 17, 2007 in Hanover ) was a German journalist and theater critic , as well as a teacher , writer and editor .

Life

Rudolf Lange was born in Osnabrück, but has lived in Hanover since his school days. In Braunschweig , he studied German , philosophy and education and then worked as a teacher .

After further studies at the University of Göttingen , he served as a soldier in World War II and became a prisoner of war .

In 1948 he received his doctorate with the dissertation "Theory and Practice in Drama with Paul Ernst".

He then took a job as a cultural journalist at the Norddeutsche Zeitung , but soon switched to the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung in 1949 , where he was head of the feature pages for more than a quarter of a century from 1951 to 1977 .

Rudolf Lange was the editor and author of numerous publications on the subjects of art , literature and theater , including monographs , for example on Otto Gleichmann, Carl Buchheister and the sculptor Kurt Lehmann.

Lange was chairman of the Lower Saxony writers' association and chairman of the main committee of the film rating agencies in Wiesbaden .

He died in Hanover in 2007.
