Rudolf Matter

Rudolf "Ruedi" Matter (born October 24, 1953 in Buckten , Canton of Basel-Landschaft ) is a Swiss journalist . After the merger of Schweizer Radio DRS and Schweizer Fernsehen to form Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen (SRF), he was elected as the first director of the new corporate unit. His employment contract with SRG SSR expired at the end of March 2019 . He then carried on a few more mandates for her. Nathalie Wappler was her successor .

Life

Matter studied after the Matura at the Gymnasium Liestal and a newspaper internship history , journalism and philosophy (lic. Phil. I) at the University of Zurich and at the Stanford Graduate School of Business in Palo Alto, California, where he developed the Stanford Executive Program (SEP) completed.

In 1974 he became a local editor for the daily newspaper National-Zeitung in Basel. From 1976 he was responsible for the SRF news program Tagesschau . He also produced and moderated the early evening magazine Karussell . From 1988 to 1992 he worked as a freelance journalist . In 1992/93 he worked for the corporate and strategy consultancy McKinsey & Company . In 1993 he became editor-in-chief and presenter of the television show Cash TV on SRF Zwei . In 1997 he moved to the news channel n-tv in Germany as editor - in-chief. There he later became economic and programming director. In 2006 he took over the editor-in-chief of the Swiss radio DRS . He was also head of the information department.

Matter was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Technology and Production Center Switzerland (tpc), and a member of the Board of Directors of Mediapulse , publisuisse and Telepool .

He is married and has three children.
