Rudolf von Tiedemann
Rudolf Friedrich Wilhelm von Tiedemann (born April 15, 1833 in Elmpt , † October 1, 1888 in Trier ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the 31st Infantry Brigade .
Life
origin
Rudolf was a son of the Prussian major and lord of Dembogorz, Neustadt district in West Prussia Friedrich Wilhelm von Tiedemann (1779-1880) and his wife Amalie, née von Pape (1809-1886).
Military career
After visiting the universities in Danzig and Bonn , Tiedemann was an auscultator in Halle (Saale) and Berlin . On April 2, 1856, he joined the 39th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as a musketeer and was promoted to Second Lieutenant by mid-June 1857 . After serving as a regimental adjutant, he was commanded as adjutant of the 32nd Infantry Brigade in early January 1864 and promoted to prime lieutenant in mid-December 1864 . On June 14, 1866, in the run-up to the German War , he became an adjutant in the von Beyer division . In this capacity he took part in the fighting near Hünfeld , Hammelburg , Helmstadt, Uttingen and Rossbrunn as well as the bombardment of Würzburg . After the peace treaty he returned to his command as adjutant of the 32nd Infantry Brigade on September 15, 1866 and received the Order of the Red Eagle, IV class with swords , five days later for his work during the war . He was transferred to Infantry Regiment No. 84 on October 30, 1866, leaving his position . This was followed on March 22, 1868 with a patent from October 29, 1866, his promotion and appointment as company commander in the 8th Westphalian Infantry Regiment No. 57 .
During the Franco-Prussian War , Tiedemann took part in the battles at Gravelotte , Beaune-la-Rolande , Petite Maxe, Les Tapes, Ladou, Cravent, Chateau Serquen, Vendome, Monnaie, Amblois and St. Amand, as well as the siege of Metz . Awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class, he was sent to Berlin on August 6, 1872, to serve at the Department of Disabled Persons in the War Ministry . Left in this command, Tiedemann was aggregated on December 27, 1872, initially to the 8th Westphalian Infantry Regiment No. 57 and on January 28, 1873 to the Infantry Regiment No. 76 . After his promotion to the superfluous major, he was transferred to the War Ministry on April 16, 1874. On March 27, 1877, he was classified as aggregated in the 7th Rhenish Infantry Regiment No. 69 and on May 15, 1877 with the appointment of commander of the fusilier battalion. There he rose on September 18, 1880 to lieutenant colonel and on November 15, 1883 to the regular staff officer. This was followed by the promotion to colonel on May 10, 1884, he was appointed commander of the 1st Upper Silesian Infantry Regiment No. 22 . On August 18, 1888, Tiedemann was promoted to major general and came to Trier as commander of the 31st Infantry Brigade. He died there a short time later on October 1, 1888.
family
Tiedemann married on March 16, 1867 in Berlin Emmi Gustavia Schoen (1843-1897), a daughter of the businessman Elisas Heinrich Schoen. The couple had only one daughter who died young. Lieutenant General Karl von Tiedemann was his nephew.
