Roan antelope

The Ruma National Park is a national park in Homa Bay County in Kenya . It was founded in 1966 as the Lambwe Valley Game Reserve to protect the last remaining roan antelope habitat in Kenya. In 1983 the nature reserve was declared a national park. The Ruma National Park is about 10 km east of Lake Victoria and consists of a savannah landscape with rivers, mountains and isolated forest landscapes.

The climate in Ruma National Park is humid and humid. The average rainfall is between 1200 and 1600 mm.

fauna

In addition to the last roan antelopes in Kenya, red hartebeests , Uganda giraffes , reedbucks , white rams , African ostriches , chimpanzees , anubis baboons and impalas live in the Ruma National Park . Cheetahs and leopards also live there . About 145 different bird species live in the national park, including the fish eagle and the silk turaco . Among the reptiles that live there are agamas , puff adders , African spitting cobras , various lizards and geckos .
