Runa Capital is an international venture capital firm headquartered in Palo Alto , California , USA , in early stages in Deep-Tech ( AI , Machine Learning , middleware , open source , etc.), Cloud Business Software , Fintech , Edutech and digital health -Startups invested. Runa Capital was founded by technology entrepreneurs Serguei Beloussov and Ilya Zubarev (founders of Acronis and Parallels ) and their friend Dmitry Chikhachev from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology . The idea of ​​a venture capital firm took shape in 2009 and was officially adopted in 2010. The partners contributed their own money to the first fund and raised capital from friends and other international investors, including Achim Weiss and Andreas Gauger, founders of the German hosting provider 1 & 1 , and Edward Nicholson, former CEO of Brunswick-UBS in Russia. In 2011 Andrey Brilnyuk, former head of the Russia / CIS Equity Capital Markets Group in Goldman Sachs , joined Runa Capital as an investment partner.   • Runa Capital I, the company's first fund launched in 2010, reached its final size of $ 135 million by 2012 and focused on investing from seed capital to the B series.   • Boston- based Quantum Wave (QWave) is a $ 30 million early stage fund focused on companies involved in quantum technology. Serguei Beloussov is QWave's venture capital partner. According to TechCrunch , QWave effectively served as the " materials science " arm for Runa Capital. The notable investments include the Swiss quantum cryptography startup ID Quantique, which was acquired by SK Telecom in 2018 .
  • Phystech Ventures was founded in 2013 by several technology entrepreneurs, including Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (known as Phystech) alumni Serguei Beloussov and Dmitry Chikachev.
