Rusciori (also Rușcior , German Reussdörfchen , Hungarian Oroszcsűr ) is a village in Transylvania ( Romania ). Administratively it belongs to the municipality of Șura Mică ( small scrub ).
location
Rusciori is located in southern Transylvania, about ten kilometers west of Sibiu ( Hermannstadt ). The place can be reached via the country road that connects the national road (DN) 1 with Ocna Sibiului ( Salzburg ). The village is located in a valley surrounded by small hills and is hardly visible from the road.
history
The village was first mentioned in 1380 as villa Ruthenica . It is assumed that the settlement was founded by Bulgarian Bogumils around 1200 .
The Bulgarian population of the village first assimilated to the Romanian , then later to the Transylvanian-Saxon culture.
Like most of the members of the German-speaking minority living in Transylvania, the originally Slavic villagers of Reussdörfchen also adopted the Evangelical Lutheran faith .
