Russian preliminary decisions for the Eurovision Song Contest

In most years there was no national preliminary decision to find the Russian candidate for the Eurovision . The host TV channels are Erste Kanal and RTR .

Formats

In the years 1995, 1997, 2000-2004 and 2005-2006 the candidates were selected internally by the First Channel. So far, RTR has always held a preliminary decision.

Alena Apila was disqualified because her song was played against the rules on the radio. Vika Zyganova's song Kogda wernus' w Rossiyu was suspected of being anti-Semitic . Youddiph came 9th in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin .

Andrej Kosinski did not manage to qualify for the final at the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest . In the qualifying round he reached only 26th place out of 29 participants.

At the contest

In Belgrade , Dima Bilan's song Believe reached 3rd place in the first semifinals , so it qualified for the final. There it reached first place ahead of Shady Lady by Ani Lorak ( Ukraine ) and Secret Combination by Kalomoira ( Greece ). The Eurovision Song Contest 2009 took place in Moscow .
