Rustam Azatovich Gelmanov
Rustam Azatovich Gelmanov ( Russian Рустам Азатович Гельманов , English transcription Rustam Azatovich Gelmanov ; born December 6, 1987 in Tekeli ) is a Russian sports and competitive climber who is mainly active in the bouldering discipline . He lives and trains in the Netherlands.
Life
Rustam Gelmanov was born in Kazakhstan . At the age of 13 he moved to Moscow with his parents . In 2003 he met a group of alpinists who introduced him to climbing. He dropped out of aeronautical studies to become a competitive climber. In 2005 he took part in his first bouldering world cup in Moscow and finished in 13th place. With first place in the overall bouldering world cup and a bronze medal at the world championship in bouldering , the 2012 season was his most successful so far. In the same year he also succeeded in repeating Action Directe ( XI / 9a ) in the Franconian Jura .
He lives in Eindhoven with his wife and daughter .
