List of overall world cup winners in climbing
The list of overall world cup winners in climbing includes all overall winners as well as the second and third place in the climbing world cup in the three disciplines lead (also: difficulty, lead ), bouldering and speed since the first official World Cup in 1989.
The overall result, as shown in this list, results from the results of the individual World Cup events (see list of world cup winners in climbing ). The points awarded per individual competition for the overall ranking are calculated by multiplying the place points and the field factor. The place points according to the IFSC point key are graded to the first 30 placed and are the same for all competitions: The first place gets 100, the second place 80, the third place 65 points etc. The field factor is calculated from the proportion of participants in the respective competition Athletes from the top 30 in the world rankings, weighted according to their placement there. At the end of a year, all individual results are added up. If more than five competitions have taken place in a discipline within a year and an athlete has participated in all competitions, the worst result in each case will be deleted . If two climbers have collected the same number of points at the end of a year, the one who did better in a direct comparison of the two equally placed climbers will be placed on the higher ranking.
