Course of the road

The Ruta 12 ( RN 12 for short ) is a trunk road in the South American Andean state of Chile . It is a national road that is located in the north of Chile in the Región de Arica y Parinacota . Its 3.8 km route is completely paved and connects the Ruta 5 and Arica with the airport Aeropuerto Internacional Chacalluta , the northernmost airport in the country.
The road is practically a diagonal line and is the only access from the region's capital, Arica, to the airport and the Parque industrial Chacalluta , which is connected to the Iquique Duty Free Zone ( ZOFRI ). There is a speed limit of 100 km / h on the entire route.
The official function of this Ruta was ratified in 2009 by Decree Nº 125 by the Ministerio de Obras Públicas de Chile (MOP).

- Length: 3 km (km 0 to 3). The route is called Avenida Teniente John Wall Holcomb between the Parque Industrial Chacalluta industrial park and the airport.
