Ryszard Paweł Kunicki (born April 15, 1873 in Tbilisi , † February 23, 1960 in Warsaw ) was a Polish doctor, socialist politician in Cieszyn Silesia and a member of the Austrian Chamber of Deputies and the Sejm .

education

After the classical middle school in Warsaw (1892) he studied medicine at the University of Warsaw . In 1894 he had to interrupt his studies because he was convicted of independence activities and exiled to the Simbirsk Governorate (now in Ulyanovsk Oblast ). In 1899 he finally completed his studies in Krakow .

politics

After completing his studies, he settled in Austria-Hungary's largest mining area around Karwin in Cieszyn Silesia (later the Olsa region ), first in Łazy , in 1901 in Mährisch Ostrau , and from 1902 in Freistadt . There he met Tadeusz Reger .

He became a member of the Polish Social Democratic Party of Galicia and Silesia and other Polish and socialist organizations, such as Macierz Szkolna dla Księstwa Cieszyńskiego , Robotnicze Stowarzyszenie Kulturalno-Oświatowe "Siła" , Rada Nadzorcza Banku Rolniczego in Free City , Kraków People's University . He also edited the Polish-language newspaper Robotnik Śląski from 1909 to 1911 . As a representative of the constituency of Silesia 13 (Teschen, Jablunkau) , he was a member of the Austrian House of Representatives from 1907 to 1911 .

During the First World War he served in the Polish legions , from 1917 as a doctor in the military hospital in Teschen .

From 1918 to 1920 he was a member of the Rada Narodowa Księstwa Cieszyńskiego (National Council of the Duchy of Teschen), from 1920 a member of the board of the Polish Socialist Party . He then lived in Krakow, Łódź and Warsaw. In the years 1919 to 1922 he was a member of the Sejm .
