The SC Schwanenstadt was an Austrian soccer club from Schwanenstadt , which played in the first division from 2006 to 2008 . His home was the stadium Vor der Au . On May 19, 2008 the club was renamed FC Magna Wiener Neustadt and relocated to Oberwaltersdorf under a new presidium and members .

history

The SC Schwanenstadt was founded on March 16, 1946 with the club colors blue and white. He played his first game on May 19, 1946 with a 1: 6 against Lambach and joined the Upper Austrian Football Association in the same year, where he was assigned to the 2nd class D. From 1974 to 1980 the Schwanenstädter played for the first time in the 2nd national league, they returned in 1995. Here the club was soon able to establish itself and finally in 2000 reached promotion to the fourth-class regional league with a 15-point lead . The SC Schwanenstadt started a surprising march into the Regionalliga Mitte , because due to the promotion ban for champions LASK Linz amateurs (professional and second team had to be separated by at least one league according to the rules at the time) and the waiver of the other better-ranked teams, they succeeded Promotion in the debut season as seventh in the table.

With the acquisition of the new main sponsor Schwan and the completion of the Vor der Au stadium , the club was able to easily maintain its position in the regional league from the start. The stadium was filled for the first time on September 19, 2001 in the ÖFB Cup against record winner FK Austria Wien , who scored the winning goal just five minutes before the end of the game. In the 2004/05 season , the championship title in the Middle Regional League was finally won under coach Andrzej Lesiak and the club rose to the second highest division in Austria, the First League . In the first second league year, still ninth in the table, 2006/07 under Andreas Heraf achieved the highest point in the club's history with second place. In addition, two players, Thomas Hinum and Michael Stanislaw, took part in the 2007 Junior World Cup in Canada, where Austria made it to the semi-finals.

After financial problems, the club announced on January 22nd, 2008 that it would move to Lower Austria and continue playing under the new name FC Magna Wiener Neustadt . The move was financially compensated and then on April 23, 2008 a new club called SC Schwanenstadt 08 was founded, which started in the Upper Austrian 2nd class south.
