The SV 1860 Minden (officially: Sportverein 1860 Minden eV ) is a sports club from Minden .

history

The association was founded in 1887 as TV Jahn Minden . On November 24, 2016, there was a merger with TuS Eintracht Minden, founded in 1945, and MTV 1860 Minden, founded in 1860 . TuS Eintracht and MTV 1860 were dissolved and the members joined TV Jahn, which was renamed SV 1860 Minden.

The club offers badminton , basketball , darts , disc golf , fencing , fitness & health, judo , ju-jutsu , canoeing , athletics , cycling , swimming , street workout , table tennis , gymnastics , volleyball and sports badges . TV Jahn used to offer handball and soccer . The football department went through several mergers in the Minden 05 club and finally in the Union Minden club .

Handball

The men's handball team from TV Jahn Minden qualified for the final round of the German championship in 1933. In the first round, the team was eliminated after a 4-7 defeat against TV Hannover . In 1950 the Jahn handball players reached the final round of the Westphalian championship in the hall, but dropped out after the group phase. The women's team of TuS Eintracht Minden became German champions in 1973, 1975, 1976, 1978 and won the DHB Cup in 1977 and 1978 . The handball players at MTV 1860 Minden produced a Bundesliga player in Guido Klöpper .

athletics

Erna Pröschold became the German javelin throwing champion in 1923 . Already a year before they secured the second place in the same competition. Rolf Huebenthal finished fifth in the pentathlon at the German championships in 1956 .
