Sabino Brunello (born June 27, 1989 in Brescia ) is an Italian chess player who holds the title of Grand Master (GM) .

Career

Brunello achieved the title of FIDE Master (FM) in 2005 , followed by the title of International Master (IM) in 2007 . In 2010 he was finally awarded the title of Grand Master (GM). His younger sisters Roberta and Marina are also chess players, both of whom have won the Italian women's championship once ; Marina Brunello also holds the titles of IM and Women's Grand Master (WGM) .

In 2013 Brunello took part in the World Chess Cup in Tromsø and was eliminated there in the first round against the Ukrainian grandmaster Pavel Eljanow .

Brunello is one of the strongest players in Italy, so he has participated in all the Chess Olympiads since the 2006 Chess Olympiad . He was also a member in the European Team Championships in 2007, 2011 in 2013, 2015 and 2017 of the Italian team.

At the Vienna Chess Open, Brunello finished eighth in the field of 465 participants. He scored seven points from nine games.

Brunello plays for the club Obiettivo Risarcimento Padova in the Italian chess league . He was already active for ASA Penne, ASD CS R. Fischer Chieti and the WorldTradingLab Club 64 Modena and took part in the European Club Cup with all of these clubs (as well as Padova) . In Germany he played for SV 1930 Hockenheim , in Switzerland for Lugano Bianco Nero, in Denmark for Skakklubben Sydøstfyn and the Xtracon Køge team, with whom he became champions in 2019 , in Belgium for Schachfreunde Wirtzfeld and in Spain for Foment Martinenc Barcelona .

Brunello achieved its highest Elo rating to date in September 2013 with 2,617 Elo points (as of December 2017).
