The Sagentobelbach is a roughly six kilometers long left tributary of the Glatt in the Swiss canton of Zurich . The brook flows through the deeply cut Sagentobel between Adlisberg and Zürichberg .

The namesake for the stream and the ravine is a former sawmill (legend building) in today's Flur Klösterli , which was probably owned by the St. Martin monastery .

geography

course

The Sagentobelbach rises at 675  m above sea level. M. as Adlisbergbach directly below the Adlisberg a little southeast of the hamlet Hinteradlisberg on Loorenkopfweg in the Hottingen district . After a short walk to the north-north-east, it takes a right branch on Dreiwiesenstrasse and turns to the north-west due to a moraine wall from the Würm glacial period . It runs along the edge of the forest while following the road a few meters away. After crossing under the Waldstrasse Seewiesenstrasse , a left branch flows into the stream. Shortly before Vorderadlisberg , at the confluence of Waldstrasse Chutzenstrasse and Dreiwiesenstrasse , it is overturned . He first follows the road and is then led in an arc to the north.

The stream, which has only climbed a few meters up to this point, comes to the surface again in a small ravine at the Grüt forest and now runs downhill mainly to the north-northwest. After crossing under Dreiwiesenstrasse again , the Adlisbergbachweg usually follows it on the right bank . Shortly afterwards, the Dreiwiesenbächli flows first from the left and then the Buschbergbächli from the right , before it crosses under Tobelhofstrasse .

The brook in the Sagentobel

It now takes on the Rebrainbach from the right and the Forrenweidbach from the left in quick succession . After the confluence of the Flunternerallmendbächli coming from Zurich Zoo , the stream immediately reaches the Sagentobel and is now called the Sagentobelbach. It crosses the ravine in a north-northeast direction with an arc to the east and one to the west. Here he overcomes several waterfalls, the highest and most famous of which is five meters. In the lower part of the Sagentobel , it briefly forms the municipal boundary before it crosses into the Dübendorfer municipality at the Burstel forest . The brook leaves the ravine and reaches the Glatttal at the cleared Tobelacher corridor . It runs along the edge of the forest and takes on the Burstelbach from the right .

Shortly before the hamlet of Stettbach , the Sagentobelbach leaves the forest area for the first time, but is still accompanied by a dense tree population as far as Stettbach. It crosses the hamlet openly from west to east and then flows north, where it meets a renatured section in the corridors Chrummpünt and Hoffnig , which extends to Stettbach station . The stream crosses under the western part of the train station and briefly flows through the Mattenhof housing estate in the Hirzenbach district of the city of Zurich. Back in Dübendorf, it crosses a partially renatured section in the Stettbacherwisen corridor , which is directly adjacent to the Heerenschürli sports complex . He reaches the highway , where he is directed to the northwest. The brook follows the road to just under the city of Zurich and then crosses it. It now flows straightened towards the north-northeast parallel to the municipal boundary.

At the Dübendorf sewage treatment plant in Neugut , the Sagentobelbach finally flows into the urban area of Zurich at 426  m above sea level. M. from the left in the middle course of the Glatt.

Catchment area

The 2.72 square kilometer catchment area extends over the municipalities of Zurich and Dübendorf . It consists of 63.7% wooded area, 20.5% agricultural area, 15.7% settlement area and 0.1% water area. The highest point of the catchment area is 701  m above sea level. M. high Adlisberg, the average height is 593  m above sea level. M.

In the south lie the catchment areas of Werenbach and Wolfbach , both of which drain into the Limmat . To the west is that of the Leimbach and to the east that of the Breitibach , which flow into the Glatt.
