The municipality of Saint-Geniez-d'Olt was merged with Aurelle-Verlac on January 1, 2016 to form the Commune nouvelle Saint Geniez d'Olt et d'Aubrac.

Saint-Geniez-d'Olt is located in the Massif Central at the foot of the Monts d'Aubrac and on the Lot about 34 kilometers east-northeast of Rodez .
The municipality of Saint-Geniez-d'Olt was surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Aurelle-Verlac in the north, Pomayrols in the east and northeast, La Capelle-Bonance in the east and southeast, Saint-Saturnin-de-Lenne in the southeast, and Saint-Martin-de -Lenne in the south, Pierrefiche in the south-west, Sainte-Eulalie-d'Olt in the west and Prades-d'Aubrac in the north-west.
