Salaparuta (wine)

White and red wines are produced under the name Salaparuta DOC in the Trapani Free Community Consortium in Sicily . Since 2006 the wines have had a "controlled designation of origin " (Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC ), which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Cultivation

The cultivation is limited exclusively to the municipality of Salaparuta .

generation

The denomination enables the production of blended wines and almost single-origin wines.

The blending wines are:

  • Salaparuta Bianco : must consist of at least 60% of the Catarratto grape variety . The remaining percent may be other white grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Sicily region.
  • Salaparuta Rosso and Salaparuta Rosso Riserva : must consist of at least 65% Nero d'Avola grapes . The remaining percent may be other red grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Sicily region.
  • Salaparuta Novello : must consist of at least 50% Nero d'Avola grapes and at least 20% Merlot . The remaining percent may be other red grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Sicily region.
