Under the name Menfi DOC , white and red wines are produced in the free municipal consortia of Agrigento and Trapani in Sicily . With almost 2,140 hectares, it is the second largest wine-growing area in the region (as of 2014). Only the Sicilia cultivation area is larger and encompasses the entire region. Since 1995 the wines have had a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC), which was last updated on March 7, 2014. There are two sub-zones (sottozone) within the growing area: "Feudo dei Fiori" (for white wines) and "Bonera" (for red wines).
