Vittoria (wine)

Under the name Vittoria DOC , white and red wines are produced in the free municipal consortia of Ragusa , Caltanissetta and Catania in Sicily . Since 2005 the wines have had a "controlled designation of origin " (Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC ), which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Cultivation

Cultivation and production are limited to the following communities:

The denomination enables the production of blended wines and almost single-origin wines.

The blends and their grape varieties are:

  • Vittoria Rosso : must consist of at least 50–70% Nero d'Avola and 30–50% Frappato (individually or together).
  • Vittoria Novello : must consist of at least 80% Nero d'Avola and / or Frappato (individually or together). The remaining percent may be other red grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Sicily region.
